In 1998 Main Roads Western Australia (Main Roads) referred Stages 2, 3 and 4 of the Karratha – Tom Price Road, now called the Manuwarra Red Dog Highway (the Original Proposal), to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). PEG proposes to construct and operate 14 new gas-fired reciprocating engines with a combined maximum installed capacity of 165 MW.
