Land use development, Mundaring - Waste Management. Proposed Primary School, Stevens Street

Project
Proposal description

The location of the existing Mundaring Primary School on the corner of Stoneville Road and Great Eastern Highway is considered by the Shire of Mundaring to be inappropriate for several reasons, including traffic noise, safety and location of student population. It has therefore been proposed that the school be relocated to Pt Location 1699 Stevens Street. The land is currently zoned Rural in the Shire of Mundaring Town Planning Scheme No 1.

The school would be located on a 4 hectare site to be subdivided from Pt Location 1699, and it is proposed sewage disposal be by a septic tank/leach drain system.

The site is within the catchment area of Bugle Tree Creek, a tributary of Jane Brook. Also, it is important to note that the Water Resources Council's discussion paper "A Strategy for Water Allocation in the Perth - Bunbury Region" identifies Jane Brook as a potential water source. The possibility of substantially increased human settlement in the Jane Brook catchment raises both environmental and water resource management issues.
