Shark Bay World Heritage Property Reports

Shark Bay World Heritage Property - Environmental Values, Cultural Uses and Potential Petroleum Industry Impacts
Summary: In September 1997, the State and Commonwealth governments reached agreement on administrative arrangements for the Shark Bay World Heritage Property. Part of the agreement was for the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) to conduct an assessment of the compatibility of petroleum exploration and development activities with the protection, conservation and presentation of the Shark Bay World Heritage Property. To assist the assessment the present study has brought together existing factual information about Shark Bay and the petroleum industry. The EPA will report its findings to the Western Australian Minister for the Environment and Heritage and a copy will be submitted to the Federal Minister for the Environment. This study has been coordinated in collaboration with Environment Australia and consultation with other involved agencies.
