The proposal is to construct and operate an ammonia plant on the Burrup Peninsula, approximately 1300 kilometres north of Perth. The selected project site is located in the King Bay-Hearson Cove Industrial Area and is approximately 6 and 10 kilometres from the towns of Dampier and Karratha respectively. The site covers an area of about 72 hectares and the actual plant footprint and infrastructure (including a thermal desalination plant) will occupy an area of approximately 20 hectares. The proposal is to construct and operate two iron ore mines, haul roads and mine infrastructure in the Yilgarn area of Western Australia, 100 kilometres north of Southern Cross.
