The Public Transport Authority (PTA) proposes to extend the existing Joondalup railway line by 7.3 kilometres from Butler Station to the suburb of Eglinton in the City of Wanneroo. BHP Billiton Nickel West (BHPB) proposes to develop the Mt Keith Satellite Project (the proposal), to the existing Mount Keith Mining Operations. The proposal is located approximately 80 km north of Leinster in the Shire of Leonora. The proposal includes clearing of up to 842 hectares of native vegetation (which is also fauna habitat) for two open pits, a Waste Rock Landform and a transport corridor, with minor ancillary infrastructure to support the mining process. Reward Minerals propose to develop the Lake Disappointment Potash Project (located approximately 320 km east of Newman). The proposal is to abstract brine from sediments and use solar evaporation ponds on the surface of the lake to create the potash product.
