Organisational structure

The OEPA delivers its services through three divisions:

  • Assessment and Compliance
  • Strategic Policy and Planning
  • Business Operations

The Assessment and Compliance Division provides environmental impact assessment support to the EPA for significant proposals (that is, proposals involving major projects, industrial, mining, petroleum and infrastructure developments) and strategic proposals. The division also monitors compliance with the conditions of Ministerial Statements.

The Strategic Policy and Planning Division provides environmental impact assessment support to the EPA for schemes and scheme amendments, develops EPA guidelines and strategic advice, provides specialist technical support for EIA, and provides advice and support to the Minister for Environment and other parts of Government. The division also undertakes media and communication functions for the EPA and OEPA.

The Business Operations Division provides business support services across the whole of OEPA and EPA including executive administration, ministerial liaison, finance, records, information technology, spatial data (GIS) and legal services.

The OEPA reports to the Minister for Environment.
