Kwinana facility to convert household rubbish into electricity recommended for approval
02 February 2015

Thousands of tonnes of household waste, otherwise destined for landfill, will be converted into electricity under a proposal which has been recommended for conditional approval by the Environmental Protection Authority.

Phoenix Energy Australia’s waste-to-energy facility at the Kwinana Industrial Area would receive and process up to 400,000 tonnes of (post recycling) household waste, enough to produce up to 36 megawatts of electricity for the South West Interconnected System and power about 46,000 homes.

Independent Browse delegates visit James Price Point

The three independent delegates assessing the proposed Browse Natural Gas Precinct strategic proposal will today tour James Price Point and meet with community members.

Chairman Gerard Early PSM, Dr Tom Hatton PSM and Glen McLeod are assessing the Minister for State Development’s proposal to establish a multi-user gas hub precinct near James Price Point, 60 kilometres north of Broome.

Mr Early said the site visit was an invaluable opportunity to obtain a grass-roots grasp on the proposal as well as meet with representatives from a cross-section of the community.
