The Environmental Protection Authority has today called for public submissions as it examines the potential health and amenity impacts of dust associated with urban development in the Mandogalup area.
Chairman Dr Tom Hatton said the EPA would consider the potential impacts of both current and future land uses in the area before providing advice on the size of the Kwinana industrial buffer.
The four week public submission period begins today and closes on September 12, 2016.
Dr Hatton said the Minister for Environment Albert Jacob had requested the EPA provide advice under Section 16(e) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 following a request from the Minister for State Development for information on the size of the buffer.
“In developing our advice, the EPA would like to understand the views and experience of the Mandogalup community in relation to current land uses in the area and in particular the impacts from dust on these land uses,” Dr Hatton said.
“I would encourage the public to participate in this call for submissions. The issues raised will help inform the EPA’s advice to the Minister for Environment.”
Submitters who own land or have an interest in the area will be asked for information addressing land use issues: https://consultation.epa.wa.gov.au/communications/mandogalup-kib
