1329	Advice on Conservation Values and Review of Nature Reserve Proposals in the Lake Cronin Region
	Summary: This document was developed as a result of advice requested in November 2004 by the (then) Minister for the Environment, Dr Judy Edwards, from the EPA under Section 16(e) of the Environmental Protection Act (1986). In 1975, the EPA recommended "that Lake Cronin and an adequate area around the lake should be made a Class 'A' reserve for the Conservation of Flora and Fauna, to be vested in the WA Wild Life Authority" (recommendation 11.10, EPA 1975). Due to competing interests, only a small area consisting of 1015 hectares (ha) around the lake was gazetted as a formal Nature Reserve in 1980. Henry-Hall (1990) reviewed the values of the area and recommended that the values could best be protected by the establishment of a large reserve consisting of approximately 113,250 ha. 1327	Perth Metropolitan Desalination Proposal - Water Quality Management, Change to Implementation Conditions
	Summary: The Minister for the Environment requested the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) to undertake a review of the implementation conditions in Ministerial Statement 655 for the Perth Metropolitan Desalination Proposal on 18 May 2005. The Minister requested the review include the revision of the conditions to be consistent with the requirements of the State Environmental (Cockburn Sound) Policy 2005 (Cockburn Sound SEP), and to reinforce the importance of the Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP) in the conditions, including recommending a set of dissolved oxygen trigger levels to ensure that relevant standards are not exceeded. 1319	Port of Esperance Noise Regulation 17 Variation
	Summary: In the event that the review of the Port's noise emissions showed that compliance was still not practicable after three years, the 2001 Approval provided for the Port Authority to apply for ongoing approval, in which case the 2001 Approval would continue in force until the Minister for Environment either granted or refused that application. The Port Authority so applied on 25 June 2004. This Report represents the EPA's assessment of the new application and its report to the Minister for Environment under noise regulation 17(3)(b)(ii). 1315	Sand excavation lot 242 Corio Road, Pinjarra - extension of approval.
	Summary: The Sand Extraction proposal at Lot 242 Corio Road Pinjarra was initially referred to the EPA in December 1990, and a level of assessment was set at Consultative Environmental Review. Ministerial Statement 198 was published in November 1991, granting approval subject to the implementation of conditions, including Condition 10 which requires the proposal to be substantially commenced within five years of the date of the Statement. The proposal has not been implemented to date. A change to Condition 10 under section 46 of the EP Act is being sought to allow the proponent an extension of time in which to implement the proposal. The EPA has assessed the requested change in order to determine whether the project can be managed under the existing conditions to meet the EPA's objectives. 1312	Application by Talison Greenbushes mining Operations for a noise Variation under Noise Regulation 17
	Summary: Talison acquired the Greenbushes mining operations from Sons of Gwalia Ltd in August 2007, and has since been conducting the same mining operations as those of Sons of Gwalia Ltd. In July 2008 Parliamentary Counsel's Office (PCO) advised the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) that a fresh application and EPA assessment would be required because of the change of occupier. The EPA's assessment of the application has therefore been conducted on this basis, and this letter forms the EPA's Report under regulation 17(3). 	Summary: The proposal for the brick and tile works at Malaga was initially assessed by the EPA in 1987. In 1994 an amendment to the proposal was assessed. This amendment related to the subdivision of part of the brickworks site and did not alter the operation of the brickworks in any way. Since 1987 more has become known about brickwork emissions. As a result the conditions imposed on the proposal in 1987 are out-dated. Note: There is a two week comment period. Advice on Conservation Values and Review of Nature Reserve Proposals in the Lake Cronin Region

Summary: This document was developed as a result of advice requested in November 2004 by the (then) Minister for the Environment, Dr Judy Edwards, from the EPA under Section 16(e) of the Environmental Protection Act (1986).
In 1975, the EPA recommended "that Lake Cronin and an adequate area around the lake should be made a Class 'A' reserve for the Conservation of Flora and Fauna, to be vested in the WA Wild Life Authority" (recommendation 11.10, EPA 1975).
Due to competing interests, only a small area consisting of 1015 hectares (ha) around the lake was gazetted as a formal Nature Reserve in 1980. Henry-Hall (1990) reviewed the values of the area and recommended that the values could best be protected by the establishment of a large reserve consisting of approximately 113,250 ha.

Sand excavation lot 242 Corio Road, Pinjarra - extension of approval.

Summary: The Sand Extraction proposal at Lot 242 Corio Road Pinjarra was initially referred to the EPA in December 1990, and a level of assessment was set at Consultative Environmental Review.

Ministerial Statement 198 was published in November 1991, granting approval subject to the implementation of conditions, including Condition 10 which requires the proposal to be substantially commenced within five years of the date of the Statement. The proposal has not been implemented to date.

A change to Condition 10 under section 46 of the EP Act is being sought to allow the proponent an extension of time in which to implement the proposal. The EPA has assessed the requested change in order to determine whether the project can be managed under the existing conditions to meet the EPA's objectives.

Summary: The proposal for the brick and tile works at Malaga was initially assessed by the EPA in 1987. In 1994 an amendment to the proposal was assessed. Keralup formerly Amarillo Masterplan, Karnup

Amarillo has subsequently been renamed Keralup. If developed, the area would become a fully integrated urban community housing up to 90 000 people.
